Borm-Informatik

Summary:
Borm-Informatik develops and distributes CAD/PPS software for the wood manufacturing and design industries. Their product PointLine is an established product in the CAD market with approximately 4500 licenses in Europe. After many years on the market, they decided to update PointLine to maintain its competitive level using component technology.

They chose Spatial's 3D ACIS® Modeler and Tech Soft 3D's HOOPS 3D Viewing Engine. With ACIS, the could provide advanced modeling capabilities and unique functionality that would set new standards in the field. They also used ACIS' repository of useful functions and classes to make their product as user-friendly as possible. With HOOPS, they were able to implement a powerful and easy to integrate Graphic Engine that would give their users the ability to work in real time with shaded, textured and/or hidden line objects, instead of only wireframed models.

CADSoft Solutions, Inc.

Summary:
CADSoft Solutions, Inc. (CSi) is a leading software technology developer whose mission is to bring precise 2D and 3D design exploration tools into the reach of every day users.

When beginning the initial development of their Concepts Unlimited product, CSi wanted to decrease their overall development time without sacrificing quality and deliver a product to market quickly to begin realizing revenue.

CSi turned to Spatial, licensing the 3D ACIS Modeler, 3D Deformable Modeling, 3D PHL V5 and several of Spatial's 3D InterOp Translators. As a result, CSi estimates that their annual development cost savings were approximately $700,000 dollars and the final product is more advanced than would have been possible with a larger development team.

IronCAD

Summary:
IronCAD, by IronCAD, LLC, has rapidly built a reputation for superlative design, modeling, and engineering functionality among its customers and critics in the CAD industry.

Component software gave IronCAD the 3D flexible interface and superior modeling functionality it needed to get its robust environment to market without the headaches and increased costs of internal development. Since the inception of IronCAD more than eight years ago, Spatial's ACIS® 3D Geometric Modeler (ACIS) has provided it with mature, proven modeling capability. As Dr. Tao-Yang Han, president of IronCAD, LLC, explains, "ACIS is a very proficient geometric modeling kernel. Its flexibility and its object-oriented architecture give us the advantage of building new, sophisticated operations."

Lambda Research Corporation

Summary:
Lambda Research Corporation (Lambda) provides innovative optics software and services to government and industry customers worldwide. Its product, TracePro, was the first optics program to offer compatibility with mechanical CAD programs and to bring ACIS-based 3D geometric modeling capabilities to optical designers.

Lambda developed TracePro as next-generation stray light analysis software that enables efficient and accurate optical analysis. To accomplish these goals, TracePro had to be capable of the following functions: Handle complex geometry to define and trace millions of rays; Visualize, manipulate, and provide a database for 3D solid models; and import and export popular CAD and lens design program formats.

Lambda opted to use ACIS for TracePro's vast array of capabilities, positioning it as an emerging technology for stray light analysis. Reasons for choosing ACIS include the component's unique ability to enable high-precision modeling, data compatibility, databasing, visualization, and interactive analysis.

Megatech Software Gmbh

Summary:
German software manufacturer Megatech Software GmbH develops easy-to-use CAD/CAM software with optimized performance. Its application, MegaCAD, can be found in the design shops of a broad cross-section of industries, including architecture, manufacturing, cartography, shipbuilding, and civil engineering.

To meet the perceived expectations of its customers, Megatech wanted MegaCAD to perform functions that included rounding along 3D contours, rounding with variable radii, and combining surface and volume modeling in one section of geometry.

In the interests of quality, time, and resources, Megatech decided to change strategies and integrate an established 3D component-Spatial's 3D ACIS® Modeler-into its software, rather than to continue development of their own modeler.

Rag Informatik

Summary:
RAG Informatik GmbH is a subsidiary of the international RAG Aktiengesellschaft. RAG Informatik provides IT service to its parent company and specialized external clients, focusing on the implementation of made-to-measure systems for the efficient realization of a continuous workflow. An example of one of these systems, Digital Underground and Deposit, was built for Deutsche Steinkohle AG (DSK) as its central mine surveying application. Through this CAE system, DSK creates a logical 3D model consisting of the planned and existing drifts and the deposit, as well as derive maps from the logical data that meet the standards of the DIN (German Institute for Standardization). Rag Informatik used aspects of the 3D ACIS Modeler to generate the free-form NURBS surfaces from fields of irregular points, predominantly with its sweeping feature.
