What is a 3D XML File Format Used For?

3D XML format is a proprietary zip archive file developed and supported by Dassault Systemes - it contains 3D representation files (like surface data, or a mesh) and a BOM file that can be viewed using a 3D XML player from 3DVIA.

The mesh contains information on faces, edges and vertices - as well as topological data - that can be represented as a surface once loaded using the 3D XML viewer. 3D XML files can also be opened in WinZip when renamed from .3dxml to .zip.
