COBie stands for Construction Operations Building Information Exchange and is a widely used information exchange standard. COBie BIM is used to provide facility managers with information about on-site equipment and materials.
For example, when used in a building project, COBie BIM would include information about the building's construction materials, internal structure, and systems (such as HVAC). With that information, facility managers can know when and how to maintain the building and its parts.
